WORSENING POLITICAL TENSIONS IN KADUNA STATE

Our attention has been drawn to recent unfortunate incidents that happened in Kaduna Town in the last ten days.
A group of faithful African Democratic Congress party supporters planned a peaceful walk from one part to another part of the town in solidarity with one of the governorship aspirants but they were met with brutal force that was unwarranted, most uncalled for, and indeed most unfortunate.
Several people were injured and a near breakdown of law and order did happen. This was avoidable and it was a needless burhaha.
Only two days ago, another set of faithful party supporters organised a welcome reception for Rt Hon Isa Ashiru Kudan Sarkin Bai Zazzau, an aspirant to the position of governor of the state who just returned from lesser Hajj but were attacked and injured while cars windscreens and side doors glasses smashed.
This is clearly uncalled for and it’s a needless violence.
While we are aware that the law enforcement agencies are stretched to the limit and overwhelmed by the level of insecurity in our land, it’s certainly not so much a big deal to careful maintain law and order particular in dealing with peaceful and law abiding citizens that are defenceless.
It’s important to note that we need to also do much of our own proactive approach by informing the security agencies of our planned activities so as to secure needed security cover and protection.
I condem the actions of the miscrearants and called on the Kaduna State Government in particular H E Dist Sen Uba Sani CON to call on all All Progressive Congress party members to desist from the acts of violence and lawlessnes as it helps no one. Many unemployed and angry youths could seize any opportunity to wreck havoc in our communities in the name of politics. Even without political party rallies, citizens are attacked regularly and their valuables taken from them both in broad day light and at night.
I personally sympathise with those who have been injured and or have their vehicles destroyed in any form.
I wish to pledge the sum of five hundred thousand naira to kick start an Appeal Fund for contributions towards the repairs the smashed cars and the hospital bills of the injured party members.
I appeal for calm and understand amongst all parties as we all have the objectives of moving the state forward but we differ in mechanisms and policies.
Long live Kaduna State
